Bio of Ted Cowen

Ted's career over 42 years has included product Research, Design and Development; Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Financial, and General management; President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer; and several Trade Association executive positions. His employment prior to retirement included Commonwealth Edison, Inc., (now ComEd), General Electric Company, Herman Miller Inc., Belvedere Company, including companies in Canada and Mexico.

Ted earned a degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Iowa State University.

Through Ted's career he has done both, designed and manufactured home appliance, including machined, molded plastic, electrical controls, stamped sheet metal, cast metals components using porcelain enamel, painted, plated, both decorative and protective varieties of finishes. Also experienced design and manufacture of wood, wood finishes, upholstered and molded furniture components. Many of the products included the appearance design as well the appearance packaging and shipping containers for such products.

Ted's experience has also included patents, trademarks, and copyrighting of products and materials. Also has been involved in exporting and importing with involvement of U.S. Customs and Custom brokers. These experiences has included the wholesale and retailing of various products. Also Ted was involved with acquisition and/or sales of companies and plants, and preparation of companies Business Plans and strategic planning.
