Seagren’s Avon Beauty Center is a licensed store selling Avon products in a retail setting. In September 2009, we opened our store at CherryVale Mall in Rockford, Illinois. Seagren’s Avon is one of the 210 independently owned Avon stores in the U.S. One month after opening, first-time business owner, Emily Seagren, owner, contacted Bob Christianson at SCORE for advice on how to improve the profitability of the business.

During our initial consultation, I explained the background of our Avon store to Mr. Christianson and he reviewed our financial statements. His advice to me was to drastically cut operational costs in order to boost profits. Mr. Christianson pointed out some crucial areas to improve upon. His invaluable advice made me realize what sacrifices needed to be made in order to turn the newly opened store into a successful, sustainable business.

After following the advice of Bob Christianson, Seagren’s Avon placed 6th among other Avon stores in the Midwest in sales volume for the 2010-2011 sales cycle. SCORE is a wonderful organization and Bob Christianson is a true asset to their counseling services. Without following his advice, Seagren’s Avon would not be where it is today.
