The satisfaction I get from SCORE equals, and many times surpasses, the feeling of accomplishment I enjoyed when I worked for Citibank.  I choose to volunteer for SCORE because I know I can steer potential small business owners around the pitfalls of starting a business.  Being able to keep someone from losing everything or help them grow a market for a new product or service is all the reward I need.

Frederic W. Thomas, SCORE mentor, Thetford Center, Vt

The wide range of ideas and challenges SCORE clients present keeps me on my toes!  I come away learning something new from almost every mentoring session, and that experience just compounds your ability to help more people in the future.

SCORE Volunteers Span All Adult Ages, Careers, and Types of Services

At SCORE, you can be a mentor and help entrepreneurs "one-on-one", or you can find an area of service that interests you and not do any mentoring at all.  Some SCORE volunteers do both by serving as a mentor as well as serving in their field of expertise.  Whatever your choice, your valuable talents will contribute to the development of new businesses in the community.

While the greatest majority of SCORE volunteers are experienced, and often retired professionals, there are many opportunities for college students, interns, recent college graduates, and young business owners to contribute. Young professionals and college students often contribute in technology areas like web development, email marketing, Internet marketing, graphics design, and social media marketing.  College students and career seekers can meet many new people, while developing a new business skill during their service with SCORE.
