Workshops are presented by SCORE volunteers in cooperation with Rock Valley College and the Small Business Development Center.

What is Simple Steps To Starting Your Business?

Simple Steps To Starting Your Business is a series of 5 business workshops designed to help potential new business owners to reach a "go" or "no go" decision for their business idea. There are six things the 5 series business workshops address:

Defining and evaluating the business idea
Developing a marketing strategy
Identifying the best ways to fund the business start-up
Turning the business idea into action using powerful tools and templates
Continuing the idea with useful, helpful business mentoring sessions
Connecting with other like minded entrepreneurs

More About the Simple Steps Program and the Individual Workshops . . .

Session #1 "Are You An Entrepreneur?" is designed to help the workshop attendee determine whether he/she is prepared to begin their new business start-up. In other words, a "go" or "no go" decision.

If a decision is reached to continue with sessions 2-5, the workshop attendee will learn the steps needed to implement a plan of action in Sessions #2-5.

The best learning experience for the workshop attendee will be if Sessions 2-5 are taken in order with full attendance;
Attendees will not complete complex assignments like target market plan or financial projections within the workshop; homework is part of the program;
Mentoring by SCORE counselors between workshops is encouraged and intentional; makes homework easier;
Face-to-face sessions, even after Session 4 - will be required;
At the closing end of Session 1, you decide whether to continue with Sessions 2-5;

Simple Steps To Starting Your Business Payment Options: Use either the $120 option or the 2 payment option of $65 each. Note that selecting the $65 option includes an implied commitment to continue with the 2nd payment and participation in the program as scheduled.
